It’s no easy task getting several children to school, doing the shopping or transporting goods or tools with an ordinary bicycle...

So what do we do? It’s all too easy to keep using our car or van, even though we know road traffic plays a major role in poor air quality and sound pollution. Let alone the time we waste in traffic jams or looking for a parking space!

25% of all goods and 50% of light goods could be delivered by cargo bike.

Cargo bikes are the solution! Brussels Mobility is coordinating the European project Cairgo Bike. Over a period of three years, Cairgo Bike aims to convince and help individuals and professionals to use a cargo bike regularly to transport goods and passengers.

What is this project’s mission? To create the ecosystem required to use cargo bikes: parking facilities, training, bike-sharing schemes, rental options, grants, ways to measure the effect of exposure to air pollution, etc.

You will find all the information you need to get going with pedal power here.

Cairgo Bike is a project in the context of the targets and campaigns of the regional mobility plan “Good Move”, which include a bike-friendly, traffic-calming approach. Like the Brussels Region itself, the project is aiming for a different economy and a better quality of life for residents.
