The COOPCITY project is designed to help make Brussels a "smart city", a city that relies on social innovation and new, social and innovative, economic models. The project aims to give Brussels a centre for social, cooperative and collaborative entrepreneurship. COOPCITY comprises five support programmes (‘Starters’, ‘Scale Up/Growth’, ‘Diversification’, ‘Catalyser for multi-actor projects and 'Social innovation generator') and a co-working space for social innovation and entrepreneurship.

The project's objectives are therefore to contribute to the creation of economic activities and employment, particularly in the field of social entrepreneurship, in order to provide a better response to the socio-economic expectations of Brussels residents and improve the capacity for professional integration (active inclusion, "gender equality", combating discrimination, etc.) and enhance the potential for creating sustainable businesses and jobs.

The ERDF-BCR subsidies cover the development of the centre and the co-working space, as well as the operating expenses related to the participation of the beneficiaries.
